Pictures

This is the house we are staying in. Flush toilets, electricity! Even if they don't always work all the time...
Uploading pix takes too much time and we are only here for a few minutes... so more when I return to great internet connections!

I'm really enjoying reading your blog! You are so descriptive. I feel like I'm virtually there with you. Thanks for letting us know about your work, thoughts, and everyday goings on in the Congo.

Hi Elizabeth,
Great blog entries! Glad you are having fun and being successful. Was a piece on NPR this morning that made me think of you and your building materials conundrum. The first ever "Curry Stone Design Prize" was just awarded to Luyanda Mphalwa, a South African architect. It is building with sandbags in a structure that allows the sandbags to be completely covered. Of course sand and bags are cheap, and I would imagine the sand would solve your insulation problem. I looked up some links on it for you (below). Don't know if the youtube video is Mphalwa's design, per se, but I thought it was interesting, all the same. Hope this helps!

Caleb and I read through the last few entries together. He listened with rapt attention.
